You are invited to participate in a 4-H Project that is not only incredibly easy, but potentially lucrative as well. The 4-H Country Ham project is getting ready to start. This 8 month project allows you to take two raw hams and process them into a marketable item that can either be sold or eaten by your family.

The eight months is divided into three meetings lasting approximately 2 hours each. The first meeting will be in mid-January, the second is generally the third Saturday in May and the third is right before the Kentucky State Fair in August. Participants take their cured hams to the State Fair and they will be required to present a 3-5 minutes speech on their project.

Your hams will be housed at the Menifee County Extension Office. You will be provided all the materials you need to complete the project including the ham, cure, a place to store the hams, and the information to write your speech.

If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact the Menifee County Extension Office to receive a registration form.
